With the new Windows 10, Microsoft is going to change pretty much everything about its Windows model, so in addition to offering the operating system free of cost to previous Windows users and switching to continuous update update rather than monthly cycle, the Microsoft company is also planning to change its approach to new release.
Jerry Nixon, a Microsoft developer Evangelist, said at the Ignite conference in Chicago that Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, so Microsoft company is always working on Windows 10.
While his statement seems to be hiding lots of untold detail of Windows 10, it is really easy to understand the message, given the fact that plenty of information about Microsoft new approach is leaked on web.
There will be large updates instead of Stand-alone releases
If we say Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows it will be half truth. In fact Microsoft will start working on large updates instead of stand alone Windows releases, so the company will switch to model previously brought us new versions of Windows every three years, to a simpler one that is likely to bring large updates every two months.
What's more and new, security and feature update will be shipped when they are ready, so all the Windows users be up to date always with latest goodies developed by company, without the need to wait for specific rollout which is based on pre-defined schedule.
Since large update will become top priority for Microsoft, so the company will also change naming system for Windows, so instead of Windows N(Where N is a number), the company would simply name it Windows.
Basically, Microsoft company will launch updates for Windows, and all devices will be running on Windows, including smartphones, PCs, tablets, Hololens, Windows will become core of everything, and last but not least, it will help Microsoft raise its customer appeal of its product with one of the biggest brand right now.
